Consultations

Free 15 minute consultations offered via email or phone call.

  • Recommendations, basic knowledge, and basic resources will be given free of charge for email inquiries.

  • In-depth questions requiring time/research/field specific skills will be charged a consultation fee.

Consultation fees are priced at $25 for 30 minute consultation. $50 for 60 minute consultation.  

  • Consultations are open for specific book arts projects, book arts questions, art business questions, and commissions.

  • Scheduling Consultation: Go to booking software and pick a time that works for you.

    *Please reschedule if you are sick or feeling sick.* It is understood that sometimes appointments need to be canceled or rescheduled. 24 hours notice is required for all changes to appointments. Scheduling changes occurring with less than 24 hours notice will be charged for half the cost of the original appointment scheduled. No-shows will result in a full charge for the missed appointment. If client is running late, a 15 minute grace period will be given to all consultation appointments. This includes scheduled phone calls/video conferencing. If client is still not present after the grace period, the full charge will be applied and marked as a missed appointment.


Commissions

Commissions starting at $50/hour plus materials. **

  • Planning Fee: This is a fee for planning/conceptualizing the commissioned project. Planning takes time and research and is important to the creative process. This fee is an itemized line on the invoice and also starts at $50. Cost may increase depending on the complexity of the project and planning. 

  • Samples

    • Sample definition: In order for a client to better understand what they are paying/asking for, the artist can make upon request a sample of proposed commissioned work. The purpose of a sample is to show the client materials, colors, concepts, and designs to better understand how a completed commission will look. They are solely to be used as samples and not intended to be artwork by itself. 

    • Samples can be purchased at the starting rate of $50/hour plus materials.**

    • All samples must be paid for up front and in full. Deliveries will be shipped to and paid by the client. Additional shipping insurance can be purchased by the client if desired.

    • The Artist owns the copyright and intellectual property of the samples produced.  

    • All samples will be clearly labeled SAMPLE and signed by the artist. 

    • Any reproduction of, theft of ideas/intellectual property, circulating of sample imagery without prior permission, or selling of samples will result in immediate forfeit of the commission and additional legal action. Any payments that have already been made to the artist will not be refunded. 

  • Deposit: A commission requires a 50% deposit before the artist begins work and is due at the time of signing the commission contract. If a client refuses completed commissioned work or does not pay in full, they forfeit the completed work and the artist will retain the initial deposit without refund. 

    • Client Accountability and Expectations

      • Additional charges will be added if client asks for drastic changes to the original agreement. No refunds will be given for work already completed. 

      • Client must sign a commission contract and agree to make the final payment within two weeks of project completion or an increase of 10% of the original price will be applied for every week unpaid. If payment is not received within 30 days of project completion, the client forfeits the completed work and initial deposit without refund. 

      • Client is entitled to two feedback sessions. Artist will show two watermarked photos of in progress work to the client for approval. Feedback is discussed, agreed upon, and signed off. 

      • Artist will not copy, reproduce or create work originated from another artist. Artist reserves the right to refuse commission should there be evidence to show another artist’s work is being infringed upon. 

      • Artist reserves the right to nullify order and return deposit if unable to meet client needs. 

      • Artist maintains copyright of the work. No artwork may be reproduced or altered without the written consent of the artist. Client agrees that the work can be used for the artist’s website and portfolio. Ultimately this means that the customer has permission to share the work publicly and use it on display for private use but any reproduction of the work, especially reproductions that will be used for profit or commercial uses, is strictly prohibited unless approved by the artist in writing. Failing to do so is a crime and will result in legal action.  

      • Client has the right to not purchase commissioned work at any time. Any money paid to the artist before refusal will not be refunded. This relieves the artist from being indebted to the client should this occur.

  • Shipping/Delivery

    • Shipping is based on size and weight of package.

    • Local pickups will not require a delivery fee.  

    • All other deliveries will be shipped to and paid by the client. Additional shipping insurance can be purchased by the client if desired. Artist is not responsible for damages that may occur during shipping. However, the utmost care will be taken in packaging materials to ensure artwork is transported safely. Works will be heavily photographed and documented before shipping. This protects the artist and the client should an insurance claim need to be made. 

    • Should damages occur during shipping, it is up to the client to make an insurance claim with appropriate documentation.  

  • Returns

    • There are no returns or refunds of commissioned works. These are custom items and refunds cannot be issued once the work has begun.

    • Returns can only be made with non-commissioned item. Item must be in the original condition when received. Client has 15 days from receipt of item for returns. 

    • If an item is cancelled, client is still responsible for any processing charged by point of sale service.

    • Client is responsible for return shipping. 

  • Payment: Cash or Credit only. An additional % fee will be charged for credit purchases. Price does not include framing, taxes, shipping or insurance costs. An itemized invoice will be sent to the client via email.
